Rediscovering the Jewish Roots of the Christian Faith

Blow the Shofar Ministry exists to educate, equip, and inspire Evangelical Christians to understand the biblical foundations of their faith, deepen their love for Israel and the Jewish people, and build meaningful relationships between Christians and the Jewish community.

The Olive Tree — Israel, the Church, and Our Shared Spiritual Heritage

Olive branch with green and ripe olives

Before we as Gentile believers can fully embrace our role in the restoration of the Jewish people, we must first understand our spiritual relationship with Israel.

In Romans 11, the Apostle Paul uses the powerful image of an olive tree to illustrate the connection between Jews and Gentiles.

Through this analogy, he reveals that Gentile believers have been graciously grafted into the rich covenantal blessings originally given to Israel, creating a unique bond that carries both privilege and responsibility.

He gives a warning to any branches with a prideful spirit saying:

“And if some of the branches were broken off, and you, being a wild olive tree, were grafted in among them, and with them became a partaker of the root and fatness of the olive tree, do not boast against the branches. But if you do boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.”

The idea that we, as the Church, have replaced Israel is arrogant and dangerous.
